52 E Cordova St (DP-2024-01027) development application

The Director of Planning approved this application, and a Development Permit was issued on January 8, 2025.

The City of Vancouver has applied for a development permit application at this site to serve the economic development of the local community by changing the use to conditional Retail use, consisting of:

• Operations run by MakeWay Charitable Society dba Binners’ Project
• Market stall space for the Downtown Eastside Community Corner Market, to include space for approximately 20 vendors at a time when at capacity, with a steady flow of local patrons accessing the site during operational hours
• Operational times proposed to run:
  • 9:00 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with set-up at 8:00 am and clean-up by 7:00 pm
  • 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday, with set-up at 9:00 am and clean-up by 8:00 pm

Under the sites HA-2 zoning, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted. However, it requires the decision of the Director of Planning.
