Parks and City Policy

This project aligns with VanPlay, Vancouver’s Parks and Recreation Services Master Plan(External link) by prioritizing the safety, access, and comfort of park users, offering flexible amenities to different users, delivering multiple functions such as walking, rolling, and wheeling, and creating more routes to walk or roll to and through parks and recreation places.

The new pathway supports VanSplash Aquatics Strategy (External link)by improving access to water for aquatics use. It supports the Climate Emergency Action Plan(External link) by providing more space for and easier access to active transportation networks. Expanding and improving a sustainable, low carbon transportation network reduces the City’s carbon pollution. The new pathway also aligns with the Healthy City Strategy(External link) by providing safe, accessible, active ways of getting around and recreating.
