Draft Villages Plan release

The Draft Villages Plan is now available!

We would like to thank everyone who has been part of the planning process for the Villages so far, and we encourage you to learn about the Draft Villages Plan.

• Learn about the Plan: You can read the full Draft Plan here; or you can watch a short presentation video summarizing the plan’s main components here.
• Virtual Information Sessions: For a chance to learn more about the Draft Plan from staff or ask questions, be sure to attend one of the virtual information sessions. You can register online for one these events through the links below:

• Things to Know: To support the implementation of the Villages Plan, the following is being considered:
  • City-initiated rezoning: The City is proposing to change the zoning of most sites within the Villages to enable the diversity of low-rise housing options and addition of shops and services that will support these areas in becoming more complete and vibrant communities.
  • Official Development Plan (ODP) Amendment: To reflect the new opportunities for growth in the Villages Plan, an amendment to the city-wide ODP is required. The Generalized Land Use Designations map needs to be updated to align with the proposed uses and heights for low-rise residential and mixed-use buildings up to 6-storeys.
• Next Steps: The Villages Plan along with the City-initiated rezoning and ODP amendment will be considered by Council this summer.
