Fall 2025 engagement

The City is planning for the future of Railtown.

City Council has asked us to explore opportunities for Railtown, and we’re getting started. This planning process will help guide the future of the area, and we’re looking for your input along the way.

Railtown is in the northern part of the Downtown Eastside, next to the Port of Vancouver and the rail yard. Railtown was originally developed as an industrial area, but over time it has become a hub for creative businesses and light industry.

We’re exploring ideas that could help the area thrive, such as:

More flexible spaces for businesses and jobs
Opportunities for housing
Additional spaces for artists

We want to hear from you!

Tell us how you use Railtown, what you love about it, and what could be improved. Your feedback, along with technical studies, will help guide the policy directions of the area plan and shape the future of Railtown.

Next steps
