Image shows how one part of Davie Street might look after construction. It shows wider sidewalks with more space to stroll

The City of Vancouver is transforming Davie Village with the Space for People project. It creates wider sidewalks with more room to walk, gather and enjoy Davie Street.

Davie Village: Space for People

In 2023, we engaged businesses and the public on their needs and aspirations Davie Village and the other West End commercial streets.

In 2024, we invited feedback from the public on a conceptual design.

In 2025, we developed detailed technical drawings for the two blocks between Jervis Street and Thurlow Street that built on this feedback.

Where are we now?

Detailed technical drawings for the two blocks between Jervis Street and Thurlow Street are now finalized. The next stage is awarding a contract for construction work and preparing for construction in 2026. We will keep the community informed with key information as we move closer to construction.

View the final design here (PDF, 7MB).

We heard broad general support for the design

Public engagement closed on Thursday, February 29 2024. Thank you again to everyone who provided feedback during engagement. Your input helped refine the design to better meet community and business needs. A total of 1,093 people responded to the public survey. Most either fully supported the design or liked most elements.
