What are your priorities for City spending in 2024?

Each year, City staff prepare an annual operating and capital budget for City Council to consider. We want your feedback on where the City should spend tax dollars, and ideas on how to balance the budget, while still maintaining core services and programs to meet the needs of residents and businesses.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the public engagement survey. Your feedback will now be gathered into a public report that will be shared with City Council as part of their discussion on the 2024 Budget in December.

Updates on the 2024 Budget

Although economic activity has increased since the pandemic, there continues to be financial risks and pressures on City services related to inflation and rising costs, which will make 2024 a challenging budget year. To balance the budget at existing service levels, a potential tax increase may be required.

A property tax increase would fund City programs and services that serve residents and businesses, such as recreational activities, street cleaning, housing or the arts.

Other ways to be involved:

  • Contact the Mayor and Council directly to provide feedback via vancouver.ca/contact-council
  • Speak at the City Council meeting on the draft 2024 Budget in December - register to speak the week before the meeting via vancouver.ca/council-meeting
  • Share these opportunities with your networks
