Council decision
On July 22, 2025, Council unanimously approved, with amendments, updates to the City’s liquor serving hours policy aimed at increasing opportunities for businesses, boosting the local economy and supporting a vibrant nightlife. Updates to the liquor policy follow engagement with the those who live, work and play in Vancouver, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), hospitality industry leaders, business improvement associations, and community serving organizations. The City received strong support for expanded hours and simplified rules.

Staff are reviewing your input and will share an engagement summary in spring 2025. We will use your feedback, along with input from partner agencies and local businesses and consideration of Council priorities, to finalize our recommendations. These recommendations will be shared with the public and presented to Council in June 2025.
