The pedestrian zone advances the Granville Street Plan (PDF, 23.7 MB), approved by City Council in June 2025 with the vision to make Granville a people-first street. It will help inform potential future pedestrian zones on Granville Street and across Vancouver.
The pedestrian zone will feature new and expanded patios from Granville Street businesses and additional public seating as well as interactive installations and photo opportunities. Additional events, music and programming will be led by Downtown Van. To enable the pedestrian zone, buses will be re-routed to Howe and Seymour streets.
