The pedestrian zone advanced the Granville Street Plan (PDF, 23.7 MB), approved by City Council in June 2025 with the vision to make Granville a people-first street. It will help inform potential future pedestrian zones on Granville Street and across Vancouver.
The pedestrian zone featured new and expanded patios from Granville Street businesses and additional public seating as well as interactive installations and photo opportunities. Additional events, music and programming were led by Downtown Van. To enable the pedestrian zone, buses were re-routed to Howe and Seymour streets.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey for the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone. The survey was available from June 11 - September 7 and is now closed. Staff will review your input and report back in early 2027.
